Here is some of the beautiful art that I promised. The guy I wanted to keep under wraps until things solidified was none other than Christof Grobelski, whose works can be seen in numerous places, including here.
First up is the "main" protagonist of our PWYW: the legendary Tripitaka. If you've been following the playtest, this guy is the first character new players will get to use. He's got a holy mission, mystical powers and a big mountain full of robots to climb. And that's just the intro!
Next up is the mischievous and slightly terrifying Sun Wukong, the Monkey King. This is the second character that players get to "monkey" with. He's massively powerful and a ton of fun to play, by all accounts. Be warned: he tends to get into some pretty epic trouble. I think "shenanigans" is a justified label!
Next up, you get to see a little bit of David's creative direction at work. This is our game's version of Pigsy, the shape-changing pig (god? Demon? It's a little mercurial). It's not yet apparent in the art, but we're playing up the "warring identities" of the character in her writeup. I'm aiming for a powerful metaphor, something like miss martian from young justice. We'll see if I can hit the mark!
Finally, this savage-looking character is none other than Sandy, changed here from a loner cannibal monk-thing into a primitive but deadly bounty hunter. We're really wanting players to be able to flex their muscles with this guy, so expect him to have a big impact (literally!) in your games!
