Act 2 ran a bit longer than I had anticipated, in numerous ways.
The word count just crested 200K. I had anticipated a fraction of that. That's what I get for putting in an entire planet, I guess.
I blew past my two-week deadline like, three times. My playtesters have the patience of saints.
Most notably, the workload was much more than I had expected. Little things like explaining the XP system or using the map took several failed starts and re-drafts before they were written to my satisfaction.
A key thing to remember; in addition to being a rules reference document, the PWYW is a teaching document. A lot of RPGs neglect the teaching aspect, which I consider a grave mistake.
One of the positive things to come out of this act was a clear idea of how to minimize my workload in the two remaining ones. So, with any luck, I'll be able to knock those out within my allotted two-week time frames and get them playtested.
As for right now, I'm going to get some shuteye. I want to re-read act 1, then read the entirety of act 2 so I can create a proper draft for the playtesters before I send it out. You've only got another day or two if all goes according to plan, guys. Stay strong!
